Jock River - Trip 2
1. Ted and Steve head upriver towards Richmond.
2. Steve's Kustom Kanu Karrier (prototype) on his Chev Astro Van.
The top bar swivels 360 degrees, so you can load a canoe all by yourself.
Two 'S' hooks (rubber coated) hook over the rear door.
A cinch-strap lashes the rig to the bottom of the door,
so the door can still be opened with the carrier attached.
The canoe is then strapped down to the top of the van using 4 foam blocks.
The carrier then stays attached to the van.
I have seen (at the Paddlesport Show in Ottawa) these types of carriers made for pickup trucks,
but not for vans.
Here's
a link to a site that carries the Canoe Leg for pickups.

Jock River - Trip 3 - March 19, 2000
A few hours of playing in the swift water at the Greenbank Road put-in.
The water is still very low, and there is still ice blocking the river downstream of the put-in.
A nice afternoon paddle though, and a good chance for Lisa to brush up on her cross-bow draws and cuts as we practiced eddy turns.
1. Steve unstraps the canoe from the car.
2. Lisa in the bow, doesn't want to go upstream any further.
3. Steve heads into the eddy on river right.
