It seemed that the turtle didn't like it when Steve waved his foot too closely. Sylvie at the sentinel Cabin at Buck's Bay. Lisa at Buck's Bay.

Tried to lift him, and figured him to be about 15lbs.
Had to put him down in a hurry - he was FAST! and eager to bite - a real fighter!
He headed off towards one of the lakes as we left.

To tell the truth, this wasn't a canoe trip...rather an early hunting trip/hike in the woods in Steve's usual hunting area. Saw 4 partridge all day, and a few other hunters out for an early season walk. Not a lot of canoeists either, maybe a half dozen all day.

Visited Crooked Rapids at the end of the Crooked Rapids Access Road, the Buck Bay take-out, the Aumonds Bay put-in, and finally Palmers Rapids and Jessup's Campground. The water was low, only the first channel was running. Not many paddlers still there at 4pm. Spoke to Harold and he thought that he might get one more weekend if the weather stays warm enough.
